What it is for

What you will be able to do.

To drive vehicles for the group transport of children — schools, nurseries, sports activities or school trips — you need the driver certificate issued by IMT (Law no. 13/2006).

This training is the first step: successfully completing it is required for the certificate to be issued for the first time.

Who needs this training?

Anyone who drives vehicles used for the group transport of children and young people up to age 16.

Which driving licence do I need?

A licence for the category of vehicle you will drive, held for at least 2 years.

What is the minimum age?

The law requires a licence for the vehicle category held for at least 2 years, in addition to the minimum age for that licence.

How long is the course?

35 hours, 100% online.

Is there a test?

There is no IMT test. You need to successfully complete the training.

Which medical checks are required?

Electronic medical certificate stating fitness for Group 2 and a psychological assessment, as required for heavy passenger vehicle drivers. We do both at the school.

How long is the certificate valid?

5 years, renewable for further 5-year periods.

Which documents are required?

IMT Form 5 (Modelo 5), initial training certificate, medical certificate (Group 2), proof of psychological assessment, criminal record certificate and Driver Offence Record certificate (RIC) from ANSR.

How much does the certificate cost?

€30 IMT fee, with a 10% discount if you apply through IMT Online.
