What it is for
What you will be able to do.
The CAM (CQM) and Code 95 are valid for 5 years and recognised in all European Union countries. To keep working as a passenger driver, you renew with 35 hours of periodic training before expiry.
We advise taking the training 9 months in advance. If your CAM has already expired, you can still renew it with this training up to 5 years after expiry.

- CAM or Code 95 on your licence (valid or expired less than 5 years ago)
- A valid D or D+E driving licence
- If you are not Portuguese: habitual residence in Portugal or work in Portugal
- To apply to renew the CAM: application form, certificate of successful completion of periodic training, Citizen Card number and expiry date, and NIF

How often do I need to renew?
Every 5 years.
When can I take the 35 hours?
Before it expires. We advise taking the training 9 months in advance.
Is the CAM valid in other countries?
Yes. A CAM obtained in Portugal, and Code 95 recorded on the licence, are recognised in all European Union countries.
Do I need to take a test?
No. Periodic training has no test.
What happens if the CAM or Code 95 expires?
You cannot drive professionally while it has expired. You can still renew it with periodic training (CAM renewal course) up to 5 years after expiry.
How do I update my licence?
With the training certificate, you apply to renew the CAM (€30) with the application form, your Citizen Card number and expiry date, and your NIF. Then, at the school, we arrange for Code 95 to be recorded on your licence (€60).
Can I take the training before the expiry date?
Yes, and it is recommended so you are not left without a valid Code 95.
I'm not Portuguese. Can I take the periodic training?
Yes, if you have habitual residence in Portugal or work in Portugal.
