It does not allow you to drive cars — for that you need the category B licence, from age 18.

What you need to start
We handle the enrolment and paperwork with you.
- Identity document showing habitual residence in Portugal
- Portuguese tax number (NIF)
- Electronic medical certificate — done at the school
- Be at least 16 (you can enrol at 15½)
- Under 18: authorisation from your legal guardian

Training
How you learn at MM Ouressa
Theory
28 hours
Road safety (7h), driving theory (16h) and modules on hazard perception, distraction and eco-driving (5h).
Classes at the school and online study on the training platform.
Practical
12 hours
At least 120 km on the school quadricycle.
Driving lessons Monday to Saturday, with an instructor who follows your progress.
Tests: Theory test with 30 questions and a practical test. If you already have A1, you only take the practical test.
The hours shown are the legal minimum. If you need more practice, each extra lesson costs 40 € (50 min).

At what age can I get the B1?
From age 16. You can enrol at 15½. If you are under 18, you need authorisation from your legal guardian.
I already have A1. Do I take the theory test?
No. With A1 you only take the practical test, and the price is lower.
