What it is for
What you will be able to do.
To work as a professional heavy goods vehicle driver, you need a C or C+E driving licence and also the driver qualification (CAM).
The path is: CAM training → IMT test, with the CAM issued on the spot if you pass → Code 95 recorded on your licence, arranged by the school → professional work.
The licence and the CAM are different things: the licence allows you to drive the vehicle; the CAM and Code 95 allow you to do it as a profession.

It is the entry on the driving licence proving your driver qualification is up to date, for residents of Portugal.
Do I need the CAM to drive lorries for work?

Do I need the category C licence first?
Not necessarily. You can get the licence at the same time as the CAM initial training, as long as you have a learner's permit.

Yes. If you are from another EU country, you need habitual residence in Portugal. If you are from outside the EU, you need a stay or residence permit in Portugal.

Yes. After the initial training you take a test at IMT. The fee is €80 and, if you pass, the CAM is issued on the spot.
