Cookie Policy

This is an English translation for information. The Portuguese version is the reference text.
1. Who is responsible
This website belongs to MM Ouressa Driving School, run by Joaquim Eduardo – Condução, Lazer e Turismo, Unip., Lda., company tax number (NIPC) 508233488, with its registered office at Rua Francisco Sá Carneiro, n.º 28, Cave-Loja C, 2725-316 Mem Martins.
For questions about cookies or privacy, contact us at geral@mmouressa.com.
2. What cookies are
Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your computer, phone or tablet when you visit it. They are used, for example, so the website remembers a choice you have made. There are similar technologies, such as the browser's local storage or invisible pixels; in this policy, when we talk about cookies, we include these technologies too.
Cookies can be first-party (set by this website) or third-party (set by another organisation whose content appears on the website, such as a map).
3. When we ask for your consent
Under Article 5 of Portuguese Law no. 41/2004 of 18 August (amended by Law no. 46/2012), we only store or read information on your device with your prior consent, except where this is strictly necessary to provide the service you have requested. Where cookies involve personal data, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) also applies.
- Strictly necessary: these do not need consent. Without them, the website or the admin area would not work as requested.
- Optional: these are only used after you allow them. Until then, they are blocked.
4. Categories we use
- Strictly necessary. They store your cookie choice and, only for people who manage the website, keep the admin session active.
- Third-party content. The Google Maps map on the contact page. It only loads if you accept this category or click 'Load the map'.
At the date of this policy, the website does not use analytics cookies (for example, Google Analytics), advertising or marketing cookies, social media pixels or embedded videos. The font is served by the website itself, without using Google Fonts. The WhatsApp, social media, training platform and student area buttons are simple links: they only take you to those services if you click them, and from then on those websites' policies apply.
Plugins installed in WordPress may add cookies not included in this list.
5. Cookies identified
| Name | Provider | Purpose | Category | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| mmo_cookies | MM Ouressa (first-party) | Stores your consent choice (categories accepted, date and version). | Strictly necessary | 6 months |
| wordpress_test_cookie | WordPress (first-party) | Checks whether the browser accepts cookies on the admin login page. | Strictly necessary — admin area only | Session |
| wordpress_logged_in_*, wordpress_sec_* | WordPress (first-party) | Keep the session of people who manage the website. | Strictly necessary — logged-in users only | Session, or 14 days with 'Remember me' |
| wp-settings-*, wp-settings-time-* | WordPress (first-party) | Store admin area preferences. | Strictly necessary — logged-in users only | 1 year |
| NID and other Google cookies | Google (google.com) | Set by Google when the map loads: according to Google, to store preferences, for security and also for advertising. | Third-party content | NID: 6 months. The others are set and changed by Google. |
Website visitors only receive the mmo_cookies cookie and, if they allow it, Google's cookies. WordPress cookies are only created for people who log in to the admin area.
6. Third parties and international transfers
If you allow third-party content, the map is provided by Google. In the European Union, the service is provided by Google Ireland Limited, and data may be transferred to Google LLC in the United States. Google states that it is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework. Google decides independently how it uses that data: see the Google Privacy Policy and the page on how Google uses cookies.
If you do not accept, the map does not load and Google receives no data from this page. You can always use the 'Directions' link, which opens Google Maps in a new tab.
7. How to accept, reject or change your choice
On your first visit, a notice appears with three options, given equal prominence:
- Accept all: allows all optional categories.
- Reject optional: uses only strictly necessary cookies.
- Customise: you choose category by category. Optional categories are always shown unticked.
Continuing to browse does not count as consent: until you choose, optional content stays blocked. We keep your choice for 6 months; after that, or if we change the categories, we ask again.
8. How to withdraw consent
Withdrawing consent is as easy as giving it: click 'Manage cookies' in the footer of any page (or the button at the top of this page), untick the category and save. The page reloads without the third-party content.
Withdrawing consent does not affect what happened before. Cookies that Google has already set remain in your browser until you delete them: because they belong to another domain, this website cannot remove them. See how in the next section.
9. How to manage cookies in your browser
You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings (usually under Settings → Privacy, or Privacy and security). See the help pages for your browser, such as Chrome, Firefox, Safari or Edge. If you block all cookies, the website still works, but it cannot remember your choice and the notice will appear again.
10. Your rights
For information about your personal data and your rights (access, rectification, erasure, objection and others), see the Privacy Policy. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Portuguese data protection authority, the Comissão Nacional de Proteção de Dados (CNPD), at www.cnpd.pt.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when we change the services used on the website. The date of the last update is shown at the top of the page. If the cookie categories change, we will ask for your consent again.
